The Langlade County
Juvenile Fire Safety program was initiated in 2001, with the goal of education
in mind. The target audience of this program is children who have been involved
with fireplay, firesetting, or those at risk for such behaviors. Our members
are trained in specific strategies for dealing with the many situations that
may lead to these behaviors.

The team consists
of members of the City of Antigo Fire Department, Langlade County Social Services,
City of Antigo Police Department, Langlade County Department of Natural Resources,
and Langlade County Department of Probation and Parole. There are many ways
to enroll a child in the program and the curriculum followed varies depending
on the student, incident, and services needed. The program is tailored to
each participant, and usually includes education about fire, dangers of fireplay,
burn injuries, and can also include work with certified counselors if necessary.
The services are available for
any resident of Langlade County.
