City of Antigo Fire Department

Welcome to the Antigo Fire Department Page

Welcome from the Fire Chief –

On behalf of the 30 members of the City of Antigo Fire Department, I’d like to welcome you to our web site. The City of Antigo Fire Department, like many other city departments, offers a wide variety of services to citizens of both Antigo and Langlade County. The City of Antigo Fire Department is a combination department employing eighteen (18) full-time firefighters when fully staffed, in addition to the Chief, a full time secretarial position, and nine (9) paid-on-call employees.

The mission statement of our department clearly depicts who we are and what we stand for:

“It is the mission of the Antigo Fire Department to deliver the best possible service to our customers, treating ourselves and our customers with respect, patience, and consideration. We pledge to our community that we shall always strive to continually improve our skills and our customer service performance”.

Emergency Medical Services

(EMS) accounts for a majority of our primary response incidents. Since 1993, our department has provided emergency medical services at the basic level, with many upgrades being implemented. The Antigo Fire Department (AFD) upgraded to the EMT-Paramedic level in 2008. This upgrade provides advanced life support (ALS) to the City of Antigo as well as surrounding townships of Antigo (Town of), Ackley, Elcho, Evergreen, Neva, Peck, Polar, Price, Rolling, Summit, Upham, Vilas, and Wolf River. We also have a mutual aid contract Pickerel Rescue. The paramedic level of service also provides ALS intercepts with other ambulance services transporting to Langlade Hospital.

In 2013 AFD upgraded to the Critical Care EMT-Paramedic level. This allows AFD to assists Aspirus Langlade Hospital (ALH) with providing interfacility transports to other facilities that are able to provide higher levels of care, and specialty care not available at ALH.

In addition to the EMS service, the department provides fire suppression, inspection, investigation, public education, ice rescue, confined space, and extrication services. Suppression and inspection services are provided within the corporate limits of the City, while the remainder of the service is provided countywide. The City of Antigo Fire Department, also works in a partnership with the Langlade County Sheriff’s Office, providing a Tactical Emergency Medical Services (TEMS) Team.  This team is currently comprised of 3 members of our department who are embedded and train with the Langlade County Special Response Team team (SRT).  Their responsibility is to rapidly treat any injuries sustained by the officers on the SRT during their deployments.

Whether you live in the City of Antigo, Langlade County, or are passing through, I’m confident that the emergency or non-emergency public safety services provided by the men and women of the City of Antigo Fire Department will meet your every need. These professionals take great pride in making sure they are prepared to assist you and your family members.

In closing, I hope you will take the opportunity to browse the rest of the City of Antigo web pages. If we can be of any further service, please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime.
