Antigo Parks & Recreation

The City of Antigo Park and Recreation Department offers countless opportunities for recreational enjoyment. The City of Antigo Park and Recreation Department cares for over 250 acres of parks, playgrounds, playing fields, trails, and open spaces. With 21 parks, 3 trails and 8 ball fields that include a variety of amenities and facilities we are proud to be able to provide recreation opportunities for our community. Walking, biking, running, disc golfing and dog walking are just a few of the recreational activities that take place on our trail system. Our trails consist of paved sections, boardwalks, woodchip trails, sidewalks and off road sections. Get out and enjoy the outdoors and explore all of our parks and trails in 2024!

The current park system is evolving and expanding with the direction focused from public feedback and internal staff discussion. Facility maintenance and upgrades are an annual priority with expansion and new projects considered as funding is available.

In 2010 a set of park plans were drafted by Aaron Williams, a landscape architect and native “Antigonian”, with Schrieber Anderson. These plans received public feedback and have allowed the parks department and city to move in a direction toward project completion with a similar vision. The plans represent a cohesive park system connected whenever possible with trails. They promote outdoor recreation that is indicative to our demographics, while also promoting new activities that broaden our activity base.

The variety of Antigo Park and Recreation activities are available through the City of Antigo including; ice skating (on 2 outdoor rinks), cross country skiing, snow shoeing, and sledding in the winter. In the summer soccer and baseball leagues are offered along with many other sports ran by organizations. We also, have many parks to enjoy such as City Park East with our newly constructed James & Mary Family Splash Pad or enjoy Music in the Park all summer at City Park West. Then in the fall youth can participate in the flag football program. Disc golf, fishing and walking or biking the trails, can be enjoyed throughout the year!

Outside city limits, Langlade County has hundreds of miles of snowmobile, ATV, hiking, and biking trails, as well as numerous glacial lakes, rivers, and streams. Nestled amidst breathtaking northern hardwood forests, the area provides unlimited camping, hiking, biking, swimming, boating, rafting, fishing, and hunting.
