Antigo Parks & Recreation

The City of Antigo Park and Recreation Department offers countless opportunities for recreational enjoyment. We are home to over twenty parks and over 250 acres of recreational space. These parks are scattered throughout the city and range in size from 0.098 acres (Robin’s Roost Park) to over 16 acres (Antigo Dog Park). The current park system is evolving and expanding with the direction focused from public feedback and internal staff discussion. Facility maintenance and upgrades are an annual priority with expansion and new projects considered as funding is available.

In 2010 a set of park plans were drafted by Aaron Williams, a landscape architect and native “Antigonian”, with Schrieber Anderson. These plans received public feedback and have allowed the parks department and city to move in a direction toward project completion with a similar vision. The plans represent a cohesive park system connected whenever possible with trails. They promote outdoor recreation that is indicative to our demographics, while also promoting new activities that broaden our activity base.

The variety of Antigo Park and Recreation activities are available through the City of Antigo including; ice skating (on 3 outdoor rinks), cross country skiing, snow shoeing, and sledding in the winter. In the summer we offer soccer, tennis, t-ball, baseball, a free wading pool and an inline rink. In the fall youth can participate in the flag football program. Disc golf, fishing and walking or biking the trails, can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Outside city limits, Langlade County has hundreds of miles of snowmobile, ATV, hiking, and biking trails, as well as numerous glacial lakes, rivers, and streams. Nestled amidst breathtaking northern hardwood forests, the area provides unlimited camping, hiking, biking, swimming, boating, rafting, fishing, and hunting.
